Member Feature: Sam Rodriguez, Millenia Pay

What business do you work for?

I am the director of product development at a healthcare company out of North Carolina that specializes in revenue cycle management and patient engagement.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

I still code with my team and I love it. My favorite part of coding is the creation piece—you can create whatever you want.

What brought you to My Space Downtown?

Actually, My Space was brought to us. Before Millennia, I worked for Jellyfish Health, which was acquired by Millennia. So, I have been in that building since before Hurricane Michael.

What is your go-to tip for being the most productive at My Space?

Coffee! My Space has a great selection of coffee available for tenants.

What are you really into right now?

I’m into learning Generative AI. It has shown some amazing results, and I am excited to see what I can build with it!

What are you hoping to accomplish or try this year?

I have been working on building up a Tech Meetup. We are currently having meetings every month and are using the event space at My Space to hold them.

Do you have a hidden talent—what is it?

Not sure. I do play a bit of guitar, which I think most people don’t really know about me.

What’s your favorite part about living in Panama City? Any favorite local businesses?

Right now, it is the transformation of Downtown Panama City. There has been so much resistance by the older generations of Bay County for years, which has made a wonderful area with so much potential stagnant.

As far as favorite? I am enjoying the atmosphere of El Weirdo Taco Pub. It is fun and vibrant and a great place to hang out with friends. The community at the Downtown Boxing Club is amazing. Mosey’s Downtown is a great place to grab a slice and listen to bands. And the Gallery of Art has new owners who are doing amazing events and bringing in fantastic local artists. If you haven’t been, check it out!

If you could add one thing to My Space Downtown, what would it be?

A hackerspace or a rentable multimedia room.
